Diving in Malta 2004

I started diving in 2003 with the PADI Open Water course, which I completed with my local dive shop - Aquarius Diving in the UK, followed by the Advanced Open Water course, and Underwater photographer speciality, completed in Malta with Aqua Venture. Diving is an exhilarating hobby that I wish I had started years ago. I've just completed my second trip to Malta, and I hope to get some training in with a local BSAC club before going to the Maldives in 2005.

I'm interested in underwater photography and have two cameras, a 35mm Sea and Sea MX10, and a Sony DSC-P10 digital camera and housing. I use the MX10 for diving and the Sony DSC-P10 for snorkelling. I'm still a beginner at both diving (16 logged dives) and photography. Underwater photography is more difficult than it looks as you have to take into consideration buoyancy control, air consumption, and stay relaxed as well as the separate problems associated with taking pictures under water. Light and colour behave differently, and the camera has to be set up accordingly. As you can see from the images below, I still have a lot to learn:-)

During my Open University studies I became interested in shark conservation - I hope to dive with sharks in the Maldives.
